Our History

How the journey started

After the dissolution of Uhuru Open, the Kenyan national golf group that inspired the current USA Safari golf group, we recognized the need for a platform where our Minnesota chapter could continue to unite and share their passion for golf.

This led to the rebirth of KAGS (Kenyan Amateur Golfing Society) in 2012. Over time, our membership has expanded to include not only individuals of Kenyan descent but also those from other African nations, such as Uganda, Liberia, Ghana, Cameroon, and Nigeria, as well as American-born golfers.

Our core objective extends beyond the game itself, striving to foster a sense of community where politics and tribalism are set aside. As we move forward, we anticipate significant growth and increased opportunities for community engagement.

The Mission

KAGS Golf in Minnesota is dedicated to promoting the game of golf within the African diaspora living in the U.S. Our mission is to build a welcoming and inclusive golf community that emphasizes skill development, fosters meaningful friendships, and nurtures a deep love for the game—all while upholding the values of sportsmanship and personal growth.
